Description
Tulip Patch is a classic quilt design with graceful curves and a friendly learning curve. This shape collection was inspired by a young quilter’s first quilt and shows how Inklingo’s printed shapes can make curved piecing approachable and enjoyable from the very beginning.
In addition to this shape collection, there is a Tulip Patch in Bloom Pattern (Download) available with fabric requirements, sewing instructions, and assembly instructions for four quilt designs that use this block.

This Inklingo shape collection includes a bonus shape that eliminates an inset seam. While hand piecers often enjoy inset seams with Inklingo’s stitching lines and matching marks, machine piecers may have another opinion!
This shape collection is based on the Tulip Patch (Beyer 363-10). It was originally published by Alice Brooks on March 20, 1935—89 years ago—77 years before my friend was born!

You can hand piece with Inklingo if you prefer or you can combine hand and machine piecing (hybrid).
Cut on a line, sew along a line!
When you print the shapes on fabric with Inklingo, you have perfect straight grain, precision corners, and matching marks.

Tulip Patch Quilt Block by Beginner
This beautiful Tulip Patch makes me smile. It is proof that it is possible for a motivated beginner who loves machine piecing on my Featherweight (Louise) to sew it well. The curves are gentle and a good challenge for a beginner.
My 12-year-old friend chose the fabrics. I love it! This little masterpiece only required a little help with the printing and pinning. There is an improvement on every seam. I wish I had a line to sew along and matching marks when I was learning!

Tulip Patch Combo Layouts
This block inspired the combos. Combo Layouts allow Inklingoists to print a variety of shapes on one sheet of fabric to save fabric and save time. Cool, eh? I printed 3 sheets and had everything I needed for this block. There is straight grain on all the outside edges. Some seams by hand, some by machine.
Love the lines. Quilt more!
